ALERT!!! - Big Schedule Revision

Unfortunately, we have found ourselves in a position where, due to some unforeseen and misunderstood issues, the lighting set up for the show is going to take much longer than anticipated. 

As a result, the entire tech process for actors and crew has been canceled 2/10 - 2/14. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week will now be mostly just actor rehearsals plus costume parade.

This puts us in a very tight situation where it's going to take huge dedication on the part of the entire team to reach opening night with the level of sophisticated execution that everyone has come to expect in the 20 years of this festival. 

Rather than allow ourselves to go to a place of panic, I ask that all go into problem solving mode and dedicate themselves to taking care of their jobs with utmost proficiency. If we all get our own work done, then when we all do come together, we can do so successfully. 

Here is the adjusted actor / crew schedule now through opening. This does not include lighting installation calls which have been individually communicated. For where it says "Select Crew", T and the SMs will be contacting crew members to see who is available.

If anyone has conflicts with this, please email me ASAP - but before you do that, please try to work it out...

NW20 - UPDATED Audition Packet

The audition packet has been updated with a new "final / tech / dress" rehearsal schedule that takes into account the choir trip in mid-February.

An agreement has been made that choir students who rehearse after school on T / TH may split the time and arrive at New Works rehearsals at 4:00p. On mandatory (M) dates, choir students will not go to choir at all. If you are one of these students, you must still put "arrive by 4:00p" on the T / TH dates that affect you (on the conflict sheet).

NW20 - Stop Filling Out Your Conflict Sheets

ALERT ALERT ALERT

We were not made aware of the February choir trip which falls on the scheduled tech weekend for the show. New Works has been scheduled for this slot since last spring. It never occurred to us that, given the overlap of choir / drama students, a trip of this nature would be put on the calendar in this slot. 

As a result, we are looking at some scheduling changes to see if it is at all possible to allow choir trip attendees to be part of this production.

If something can be worked out, it is going to be a very unorthodox tech / dress schedule and will alter the calendar and mandatory rehearsals significantly, including more mandatory days.

We need a day or so to figure this out. 

A new Audition Packet will be forthcoming with adjustments once we know more.

If you are currently scheduled to go on the choir trip, feel free to go ahead and sign up for auditions. Soon, we will determine if we can consider you, and we will let you know.

We are aware that the added week of school may not have aligned with your previous commitments and want to work with you when possible. That said, you need to do what you can to be there if at all feasible.

The scripts have already been posted and you should be reading them. Auditions will consist of readings from the scripts. No memorization prep will be necessary - just be very familiar with the plays.

NW20 Update - Auditions and Scripts

As we all recover from the strike and adjust schedules, some calendar issues have come up with the original plan to hold NW20 auditions the week of 12/11. 

It is highly likely we will move auditions to:

M 12/18 and T 12/19 with First Read on W 12/20.

If we make this move, we will work to accommodate those who might be leaving town early due to "pre-strike plans". 

We will update and confirm very soon once we know a bit more.

Until then, please click HERE to read the "Audition Drafts". Please note: these drafts are not final - they are "in progress" and rewrites will occur. 

The audition will not require you to memorize anything, so the best thing you can be doing to prepare is to get familiar with the plays.

Audition Packets / Forms will be posted once we better know the schedule.

We have concerns that due to the frantic nature of recovering from the strike and opening Spelling Bee along with the holidays, some may be exhausted and not come out to audition. We hope that's not the case - this process will be celebratory and...this is YEAR 20 of New Works - it's a big deal!!!

Thank you to all who auditioned. I can honestly say, this was one of the strongest groups I've seen come out for New Works. The department is so rich with talent. For those who did not get cast, I know how disappointing this moment may be for you. Please do not take it as a judgment of your talent. Every single person who auditioned displayed great talent. And I feel genuinely lucky to have had the chance to work with you these past days. Sometimes, it doesn't work out, but I urge you to keep following your passions; there are always more opportunities out there.
