MAKE UP!!!

ACTORS:

All female actors should bring in street make up.  For the show, we will try variations of this.  (India will have her own special treatment which crew will work on with her tomorrow.)  Female actors should also bring in various hair accessories to make sure hair can be styled to be out of the face.

Male actors need to have brown eye liner for their bottom lids.

The following actors also need translucent face powder:  Olivia F, Alex D-S, Barrett, Ben P., Ryan.

Make-up will not be required for Sunday (India will be in make up) but will be required for Monday and on.  That said, if you have make up, go ahead and use it on Sunday.  If you need assistance getting any of these items, please notify stage management during tech tomorrow.

Street Clothes!

CAST ALERT!

There will be intros and interludes as part of this production with minor text that introduces each play.  Most of the cast will be involved with this at some level.  This will be integrated on Sunday and Monday during the tech/dress.

You will need to wear street clothes for these moments.  And those can change night to night.  But there are some rules:  no logos or text, no flip flops, no extreme heels, no hats, no bare feet.

Also in preparation for this, keep in mind the following:

This will feature the casts of Engine and Warning Sign (no Alex).  This means the actors in Engine will change into their costumes during Bearing the Blaze. 

INTERLUDE - into Engine

This will feature actors from Warning Sign

INTERMISSION

This will feature actors from Bearing the Blaze and Engine.

CURTAIN CALL 

All actors in costumes from the actual plays. This means actors from Bearing the Blaze and Engine will have to change back into their costumes for curtain call.

For the many attending drama night out (Chrysalis) after rehearsal, transportation is not provided.  There seems to have been a bit of confusion about that.  I am, however, willing to drive 4 people to and from the show this evening so long as I receive an email from your parent, stating that it's okay for me to do so.  (matthew.b.zrebski@gmail.com) The show is at 7p, so it leaves an hour to get there.  They would like people to check in by 6:45p.

Run time:  90 minutes, no intermission

The sign up is on auditorium door under the poster (audience right).  Oregon Children's Theatre has generously allowed me to offer any of the Lincoln Drama family (students, family, friends, all!) the $8 ticket price.  This is a small, intimate venue, so the earlier you sign up, the better.  I am trying to get a rough count to the theatre by Thursday.  They will put a "soft hold" on seats for us and then release them by 6:45p the night of show, should they need them for other patrons.  

I sincerely hope many of you will come see this production.  As an advocate for new work that features teen actors and stories, this particular show means quite a bit to me - and the most important thing is that teens get to see it.  New work is very hard to market.  The best way to show theatre companies that taking risks on new plays is worth it:  is to fill those seats with patrons!  It would mean a lot to see many of my students there.  And it's totally in alignment with the incredible work the Lincoln students do each year with New Works.  So come one, come all!!!

About the play:

When four teens are abducted to a surreal landscape, they must face their internal conflicts and insecurities.  There they encounter "The Braids," a chorus from another realm, who force them to realize that transformation is their only escape and hope for redemption.  Be a part of the journey — whimsical and at times terrifying.

Presented by OCT’s Young Professionals Company, the play features an ensemble cast who became a part of the play creation process with Matthew B. Zrebski. Teens participated in a forum, followed by an eight hour workshop and discussed issues that mattered most to them.  

“Their passionate assertions were staggering… concerns about gender equality, sexual abuse, economics, academic pressures, sexual orientation, religion, politics, terrorism, media, and countless other topics permeated the room,” said Zrebski.  “But one particular notion was dominant from these young adults:  ‘It seems sometimes that we may be the last generation to be able to fix everything.  That’s a lot of pressure.’  To which I thought, ‘What if they are?’”

Friday 4/8 Reminders!

#1:  POTLUCK!

For our marathon Friday, please bring snacks to be shared.  Finger foods work best.  Though some desserts are fine, think healthier please!  Lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, veggies!  Because of the children's theatre workshop, the food will need to be set up in one of the dressing rooms. People can go in and out and snack throughout the day.  There will also be an hour break from 12:45p - 1:45p.  

#2:  FEES!

If you have not paid your fee, please bring your check for $75.  Payable to LHS Drama.  If the fee is presenting a financial challenge, please talk to Jim Peerenboom to work out a plan.

Script Revisions!

-The cast of Engine will have copies provided.  

-Bearing the Blaze has not changed since last rehearsal, so the cast is all set.

-To the cast of Warning Sign:

As promised at the last rehearsal, Alexandre has noted revisions in the script.  Yellow means "change".  Blue means "addition".  Red/strike means cut. It is your responsibility to study the new script and note the revisions in your current draft.  We are not going to print new copies. Please do this by your next rehearsal.
